Yihai holds a BA in English from Central South University (CSU) and
an MA in TESOL and Applied Linguistics from King’s College London (KCL).
His research interests include English as a Lingua Franca,
Translanguaging, and TESOL Methodology.
Before joining the ELC, Yihai was a CSU and International House
London (IHL) trainee teacher. He has also been working as a part-time
IELTS instructor. In 2022, Yihai received professional teacher training
at IHL and was awarded the CELTA certificate with Pass A. In the
language classroom, he values creating a friendly, relaxed, and lively
atmosphere where every learner feels comfortable and motivated to speak.
Apart from being a language teacher with academic pursuits, Yihai is
also an enthusiast of classical music. As an amateur French horn player
with 15 years of experience, he has performed in over 120 concerts with
musical ensembles such as CSU Symphony Orchestra, Hunan Philharmonic
Orchestra, and KCL Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Yihai is the horn
instructor and guest horn player of STU Concert Band.
